Welcome to the Cryo-Microscopy Group

We are a group of scientists from all disciplines, interested in doing all forms of cryo-microscopy. Our mission is to promote cryo techniques to the widest possible audience and to provide support and encouragement to new  cryo-enthusiasts.

We organise an in-person meeting in the UK every second year. This provides an opportunity for the cryo community to come together to disseminate, discuss and present the latest techniques and developments in the world of cryo microscopy. We welcome presentations from the broadest possible fields; the only requirement being, it must involve the use of a cold/cryo workflow.

Since its inaugural meeting back in 1978, The CMG has remained a friendly welcoming group of people from all disciplines both scientific and industrial, with one major passion: an interest in all things cryo and cryo-related. If it's cold, it's cool! This includes electron microscopy, light microscopy, X-ray imaging and correlative imaging, on samples from life sciences, materials and batteries, food products and environmental samples.

With our highly dedicated committee and extensive support from the trade, the CMG continues to be a truly vibrant successful society, with a welcome for anyone interested in the truly astonishing and beautiful world of cryo-microscopy.

We thank the sponsors of our 2025 meeting:
