Dr. Chaturanga Bandara is a UKRI Fellow studying the bactericidal activity inspired by the nanostructures on dragonfly wings. With a background in Chemistry and Molecular biology has completed his research training in world-leading international labs in Australia, Germany and the UK.
His interdisciplinary research is focused on characterisation of bacterial structure when they interact with nanotopographies using high-resolution microscopy techniques. His current research is on characterising material-bacteria interactions using cryomicroscopy techniques to reveal cell-wall structure in their near-native hydrated state. He is interested in networking with potential collaborators, industry partners and microscopy enthusiasts.
